[ surprise bats ]

After a very long, and high-pitched day, the shrieking of the Goblin Child was not subsiding, and neither was my headache – when in walks Klaus, with a package from a fabulous friend, full of minuscule and expertly folded origami bats. They have arrived the night before my final chemo, which they are meant to celebrate, and unbeknownst to my friend, are the totem of the goblin child – a fabulous reminder that she is wondrous even at her worst, and that life is wondrous in spite of even its most frightening moments.
